Leonard called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.

The Selectboard read the minutes of the May 5, 2005 Selectboard meeting. Leonard made the motion to approve the minutes. Berne seconded the motion.

The orders will still be done on Thursday.

Driveway permit for David Achilles was approved.

Leonard: In the best interest of the Town, the Selectboard feels they are unable to sell the strip of land between the parking lot and the Grants house to the Grants.  The Selectboard are willing to write a letter giving the Grants permission to use that strip of land.

William Putnam would be interested in the position of Zoning Administrator if the Planning Board and the Selectboard approve. Berne put a call into Martha Crown for a recommendation from the Planning Board.

Ellen Edwards: concerns with the speed of some of the young FAST/Fire Department personnel coming down off  of Minard Hill and traveling through town. She said they don’t even stop at the foot of Minard Hill.

Leonard: You aren’t the only ones that have commented on this issue. The Fire Department is working on a policy and the town is working on speed limit policies for the roads.

Leonard: something will be done!

Paving bids were opened from Biglow, Pike, Gorman and Blaktop. The bid was awarded to Biglow.

Roberta: Cartographer’s bill do you want to pay them now or wait until they attend the Selectboard meeting?

Patricia: Cartographic is meeting with the Listers on May 19th at 10:00AM to go over corrections that need to be done on the maps.

Linda: Cartographic will be attending the June 7th Selectboard meeting starting at 5:30 going to 7:00PM.

Selectboard: Hold off payment until the Listers meet with Cartographic.

Selectboard: It would be good to have an agenda list from each department on what is getting done.  For example the Fire Department, Highway Department and so forth this way it could be checked off when they have completed it and it wouldn’t keep being brought up.

Roberta: playground equipment needs to be removed.

A letter was received from Tammie Tinkham.  She is interested in the cleaning job at the Community Building.  Berne made the motion to hire Tammie for janitor job. Leonard seconded the motion asking Berne to be the supervisor.

Brent: discussed the highway ordinance and traffic ordinance. Need to take a close look at the parking ordinance. Need to address long term parking and parking on town property.

Debra: additional information about tree warden and trees in the right of way needs to be added to the ordinance.

A meeting will be setup with the Cartographers and person(s) using the tax maps, such as the Fire Department, Emergency Services, Listers and the Highway Department.

Paul and Patricia: a map storage cabinet will be needed, a digital camera and maybe a set of travel maps.

Patricia: possibility of being able to print reappraisal booklets in the office.

Brent: Need to start ditch work possibly put out invitation to bid on this work.

Brent: Gandin Brothers read in the paper about the town using grout for the Cemetery Road. Top fill needs to be moved and the brush removed. Brush is growing out from where a cedar tree was cut 3 or 4 years ago. Berne will check this out.

Debra: filled the Selectboard in on the web-site.

Brent: Have something in the highway ordinance that reads the Selectboard will give permission to utility companies to cut or trim trees along the roads.

Debra: maybe put something on the Web-Site reminding people about the 25’ right-of-way from the center of the road for cutting trees.

Brent: maybe put permits forms on the web-site so people can down load them.

Debra: needs clarification what answer was given to the Library for use of the kitchen area for the chess club.

Linda: I didn’t get a clear answer from the Selectboard at their meeting so, I explained this to Virginia Jennings. Then I gave my thoughts that until they had more then two or four people for the club I wondered why they couldn’t use the Biography room and then when they had more people move into the kitchen area.

Select Board voted to allow the library to use the kitchen for a chess club.

Leonard: the Library will be invited to the next Selectboard meeting and will take a quick tour of the Library rooms.

Berne made the motion to appoint William (Bill) Putnam to be the Zoning Administrator. Debra seconded the motion.

Berne: new cemetery lot work has started it needs leveling. Maybe this can be done by Brent and Phillip.

Brent: it would be better to have it plowed and rototilled but Brent will look at it.

Berne handed in his resignation effective June 30, 2005.

Leonard: need to think about radios and frequencies.

Leonard: Jim Downing’s constable job has a deal of great responsibly and needs to be taken under consideration of things that might happen.

Leonard: Otterman and Allen said that it might be better off hiring police coverage out.

Brent: Bad news, the town won’t be getting any grindings.
