Leonard called the meeting to order at
7:00 PM.
Mail was opened, purchase orders signed
and minutes read. June 21, 2005 minutes were approved with corrections.
Steve Patterson explained about the
outreach projects and working with the planning commission boards on putting
together town plans. NVDA works with Northeast Development on helping to set up
new businesses.
Debra: do you help towns with
improvements?
Steve: there are different groups that
work on different projects such as highway grants, building grants, etc.
Leonard addressed the issue of the
Wells River dam project and the fact that without the dam there isn’t enough
water if there was a big fire in town.
Linda filled the Selectboard in on a
situation with a property and septic discharge. It was recommended that the
town’s health officer, a Selectboard member and the Constable check out the
possible problem and then go from there.
Linda: I have received complaints
concerning the roads being rough and dusty, the question was asked if the road
crew were on vacation! The road crew is
on vacation.
Leonard: asked Brent to put together a
timeline of when and which roads will be worked on and what will be done.
Leonard: asked Brent if he could let
the office workers know when they plan on taking vacation so the office
personnel can give answers to people calling concerning the roads.
Linda: calls are coming in concerning
4-wheelers on the Powder Spring Road, Little Italy Road, Depot Flats and
Goodfellow Road.
Selectboard: contact Jim Downing Jr.
and have Jim patrol these areas.
Leonard asked if Jim if he has received
the new radio and if so where is the old radio.
Roberta: Jim has the new radio and it is installed in his truck and paid
for but does not know the whereabouts of the old radio.
Brent: received booklets on water
quality on logging jobs in Vermont.
Brent: Red Cross grants money
applications.
Brent: received load of chloride today
(Topsham and Groton share so if anyone sees Topsham’s truck at the Groton Town
Garage that is why)
Bids on the Mt. Ara road project going
out and will need to be back by July 19th.
Roberta discussed the budget and a few
problem areas.

Roberta received three donation checks
from the Merchants Bank Foundation: one for $75.00 for the Groton Food Shelf, one
for $100.00 for the Groton FAST Squad and one for $ 100.00 for the Groton Fire
Department.
Roberta said that she has borrowed
$90,000.00 to date and will be borrowing more as it looks like tax bills will
not go out until the first or second week of August. Have to wait until the listers are done with the grand list and
then wait for education tax figures to come from the state.
Leonard said Harold Puffer spoke to him
concerning the granite blocks from the old Checchi building. Harold would like
them and as Harold has done so much for the town the Selectboard said that
Harold could have the blocks.
Leonard still working on the Community
Building grants.
Debra wants to get a grant for the
downtown project but would need a reclassification of the village.
Roberta needs to be kept informed on
the grants the Library are applying for as this effects the total of all town
grants when they use the Town’s federal ID number.
Boy Scout camp is in mostly good
condition.
Debra will be sending out invitations
for the Town potluck picnic at Boulder Beach.
Selectboard asked to have Richard Kreis
attend the next Selectboard meeting on July 19th.
Meeting adjourned at 9:10 PM.
