Debra called the meeting to order at
7:00 PM.
Richard made the motion in the absence
of Leonard Doscinski, Debra Tinkham run the Selectboard meeting. Correspondence
were reviewed July 19, minutes approved.
Richard made the motion that the Groton
Selectboard endorse and authorize as a town function the Groton Community Clubs
Annual chicken pie supper along with the day-long Fall Foliage Festival
activities held on Saturday, October 1, 2005 such endorsement and authorization
to include the preparation actives of September 29 and 30, 2005 and give
permission for the use of the Groton Community Building and grounds for these
activities. Debra Tinkham seconded the motion. Approved by voice vote.
Debra explained that Eric Houstra was
unable to attend this meeting regarding the redistricting for a Groton Village
District.
Brent explained how receiving the FEMA
money and road repair specs work.
Brent requested the approval to
purchase the needed stone up front this way the town will be assured of getting
the stone for the job. This way if something comes up with other towns
purchasing large amounts of stone there might be a shortage and they (road
crew) would have to travel a further distance to purchase the stone. Approval
was given to purchase the stone ahead.
Bids from Robert Farquahson and Puffer
Excavating for the Great Road and the Mt. Ara Road jobs were opened. Robert Farquahson was awarded the bid for
$27,500.00 with the understanding the town will provide the culverts and
stone. Puffer Excavating bid was
$34,808.00.
Brent said that Terry Dana decided not
to submit a bid.
Brent: the waste (old gravel) will be
taken to the old gravel pit and then used at the cemetery for the roadwork
there.
The traffic and highway ordinance were
reviewed there will need to be documentation justifying the speed limits and a
definition of class 4 roads and untraveled class 4 roads.
Debra was the signs put in your
budget? Brent answered no not this
amount of signs.
Debra do we have an up date on the Red
Brook concerns?
Linda: I haven’t heard anything since
the health officer put out the no swimming or fishing signs.
Linda: I will be talking to the animal
control and the health officer as there has been a child nipped by a dog on
Powder Spring Road and this is being checked into. Also a possible rabid
raccoon has been seen on the railroad bed near the Frost property. The rabies
Hot Line was called but they weren’t much help.
Leonard still working on the Community
Building grants.
Debra: talking to Craig Power about the
Plumbing in the kitchen area but need to get together with Paul Sykas and Brent
to decide where the stoves should go and get the wiring done.
Richard: I want to commend Debra
Tinkham on the great job she did putting the potluck picnic together. GREAT
JOB Debra!
Debra: people are asking about having a
