Leonard called the meeting to order at
7:00 PM.
Mail was reviewed. Purchase orders were
signed.
Planning
Debra made the motion to accept the
recommendation from the Planning Commission to appoint Matthew Puffer to the
Planning Commission. Leonard seconded the motion. Dave agreed.
Questions concerning the building
permits and certificate of occupancy were brought up. This was tabled until next meeting when Cheryl Boucher will be
asked to attend the meeting.
Grants
Discussion of having someone to write
grants was discussed.
Grant writing classes were discussed.
The forms have been signed for the
removal of the fuel tanks.
Town Clerk
Fox
News 44 called and requested any news from Groton along with the Selectboard
minutes.
Selectboard
decided they could purchase them.
Notice
for budgets was reviewed concerning dates due.
Linda
wanted to verify what the Selectboard meant about her work hours. Did they mean
she was putting in to many or they wanted her to work more?
Selectboard:
wanted to make sure she is getting paid for the time put in.
Budget
Committee development was discussed again. Some names were mentioned and these
people will be contacted.
A previous
policy for Selectboard meetings was reviewed and will be edited for this board.
Kitty
addressed errors and omissions from the Listers.
Kitty
talked to the Selectboard concerning repairs on her vehicles in the line of
work.
Can Cage & Boy Scouts
Gary
Lamberton introduced the first year Boy Scouts.
Gary
explained the improvements the troops are doing to the Boy Scout camp.
Gary:
the troops need to earn money so to go to Fall River Cove camp. The Boy Scouts
wondered about taking over the collection of the cans from the can cage here at
the Community Building?
Dave:
Mathew Nunn picked up this when the Boy Scouts dropped the can cage before and
the can cage belongs to Mathew Nunn.
Leonard:
Gary needs to get with Mathew and then come back to the Selectboard with a
decision.

Donald
asked the Selectboard if there would be a problem with him having a trash bag
drop on Saturdays from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm.
Donald has spoken with his neighbor and they don’t have any problem with
Donald doing this.
The
Selectboard gave permission to try the service.
Donald
wondered about places along the sidewalks that need some repair work. Donald
has trimmed the grass and small brush along the sidewalk.
Volkswalk
Paul
Berlejung reported on how the plans are coming for the Volksmarch.
Mary
reported on energy light bulbs that she was given to give out so she reported
on ways she is planning to give them out.
Mary
reported on an application for a Planning Grant.
Leonard
made the motion to go into executive session on an employment issue. Debra
seconded the motion. Executive session entered into at 8: 20 PM. Come out of
Executive session at 8:40 PM. No discussions were made.
Leonard:
Linda please make a copy of minutes concerning pay raises and training to the
next meeting.
Highway
Brent:
got the truck back after the break down while working on the dry hydrant on Boulder
Beach Road. Route 232 aided to the
breakage.
Brent:
will be having Matthew Puffer sorting out the larger rocks in the gravel pit to
get setup for the hammer equipment to come in and break the rock into smaller
sizes so the town can bring in the crusher.
Brent:
had the loggers do some work on the corner of Welton Road and the railroad bed
so the trucks can get around the corner easier.
Brent: FEMA
work on Hooper Hill Road and Pound Road will get culvers and top coat of gravel
and ditch work. The Great Road and
Cross Road will get top coat of gravel and ditching.
Screening
sand will start September 15th.
Tanks
are out of the ground just waiting for report.
Dave:
Brent can you check back with Bigelow paving concerning the sidewalk paving.
Dave:
will send copies of Highway ordinance to Richard Greenwood.
Jonathan and Matthew: There was much
discussion concerning use of private vehicles on calls along will concerns of
insurance coverage on their vehicles.
Jonathan and Matthew: have asked
Darling’s Auto to give them a quote for just fixing the FAST vehicle.
Selectboard agreed they need to
communicate with the Town of Ryegate about the FAST Squad and now is a good
time before the budget process begins.
Len will be working up some options to discuss.
Does
the VFIS insurance cover personal vehicles when on a call?
The Selectboard appreciates all the
work and use of their personal vehicles.
Debra: Money
has been raised for the playground equipment with the help of Modern Woodmen of
America and Steve Hart.
Steve
Hart is going by state guidelines on the play ground equipment.

Debra
does the Recreation Committee have the approval of the Selectboard for the foot
race and if the FAST Squad could give their assistance at the crossings.
Down Street
Down
Street is negotiating another 6 months of free rent.
Town
ball field on 302 needs more parking area.
Kitty’s
vehicle repair bill will be paid out of the Lister’s budget as she was using
the vehicle on the job.
Leonard:
reported on the Pine Mountain fire with out a burn permit, the Ruth Wilson
fire, accident on Scott Highway and the fire in Waterford.
Orders were signed in the amount of $ 7,745.59
Leonard made the motion to adjourn;
Debra seconded the motion. Dave agreed.
Meeting adjourned at 10:15 PM.
