Cartographer’s attended and started
their demonstration on uses of the
tax maps at 5:00 PM in the kitchen area of the Community Building. The
Fire Department, EMS Services, Highway Department and the Town Clerk’s Office
were shown applicable applications.
Leonard called the meeting to order at
19:16 (7:16) P.M.
Correspondence read, May 17, 2005
minutes approved with one correction. Minutes should state Library given
permission to use kitchen for chess game.
Letter received from Town of Ryegate
regarding used FAST equipment disbursement was discussed.
Question and concerns on purchase
orders for FAST Squad equipment was also discussed.
Debra was given permission to put
approved Selectboard minutes on the web-site.
Paul discussed price options on stoves,
warming oven and sink for Community Building kitchen.
Paul was given approval to attend
auction to purchase kitchen equipment up to $4000.00.
Bob Hanson updated the Selectboard on
the water testing and revitalization work of the down town project.
Bob Hanson discussed the project money
funder’s sign; a mockup sign will be designed for approval.
Groton Community Housing will hold
festivities and a placing of a time capsule June 29th at 11:00 AM.
The ceremony will be held in front of the Groton General store to place items
in a time capsule to be opened in 50 or 100 years?
Roberta: some of the budgets need to be
watched. The Community Building expense, Election budget and Fire Department
utilities budget.
Roberta: discussed information on the
State Buildings and why some of the buildings were not on the information
sheet.
Debra: why can’t the purchase orders be
put in as a FAST purchase order request.
Roberta: addressed the problem of
Groton/Ryegate FAST Squad and the problem that took place in the past.
Linda: Jonathan Rupert wondering if the
town would purchase grass seed to put down out front of the Community Building?
Purchase was approved up to $40.00.
Linda: Laurine and William Grant said
that their lawn mower was broken and wondered if and when Jonathan mowed if he
would mow the town’s strip of grass to the edge of their house? The Selectboard
had no problem with this.

Linda: received a call concerning the
port-a-potty at Frost Ball Field wondering about the cleaning. Who pays the
fee? The Selectboard said call and have it Cleaned and the have Milt remove the
port-a-potty.
Linda: Need to order land record books
and recording paper. The Selectboard said to order the books.
Jim Downing: Need to track down Police
Department call sign numbers.
Jim: Need a different radio and with
external speakers, Can’t get out with this radio.
Leonard: Radios were bought already
with grant money for each person. If it’s in your budget order the radio.
Bill Putnam: Need some clarification on
what and how to do the building permits. Leave with Linda and she will look
into how and in what order this needs to be done.
Brent: these papers concerning the
enhancement grant for sidewalk is a matching fund grant. This will be checked
into concerning the matching funds.
Brent: Heard about the complaint, what
is up? The driving of the young Fire/Fast members has been stopped and the
issue of their driving will be dealt with.
Debra: would like to be at the meeting
when these members sign the papers saying that they understand what they have
done wrong.
Brent: how does the highway ordinance
look? Selectboard agreed it looked great.
Brent: Will be crushing gravel in the
gravel pit soon.
Leonard: Wayne has started removal of
the trees from the playground.
Debra: We still haven’t done anything
with the play ground equipment yet. Suggested posting a Keep out sign until
issue can be dealt with.
Leonard made the motion to except
Berne’s resignation as Selectmen effective June 30, 2005. Debra seconded the
motion.
Leonard: need to put out to bid the
relining of the chimney in the Community Building.
Leonard: bids should be put out for
wiring the kitchen and the plumbing for the sink as soon as we know what the
specs are.
Letter submitted by Martha Crown chair
of the Planning Board recommending Dan Robinson as Co-Zoning administrator.
Debra made the motion Berne seconded it.
Debra: potluck picnic scheduled for
July 20th at Boulder Beach no charge for shelter. $1.80 admission
per person will be charged this is a reduced rate.
